Things to See in Udaipur

  • Udaipur City Palace

Towering over the eastern banks of Lake Pichola, Rajasthan’s largest royal palace complex dazzles with mirrored halls, ornate balconies, vibrant frescoes, and panoramic views of the lake and surrounding hills.
  • Lake Pichola & Jag Mandir

Take a scenic boat cruise across the tranquil waters of Lake Pichola at sunset, gliding past the iconic white-marble Lake Palace and the historic island palace of Jag Mandir.
  • Saheliyon-ki-Bari (Garden of the Maidens)

Built in the 18th century for the royal ladies of Mewar, this peaceful courtyard garden features lotus pools, marble pavilions, and rain-like fountains surrounded by lush greenery.
  • Bagore Ki Haveli & Cultural Dance

Set along Gangaur Ghat, this 18th-century waterfront mansion houses over a hundred rooms of royal artifacts and hosts the famous Dharohar evening folk dance and puppetry performance.
  • Monsoon Palace (Sajjangarh) & Fateh Sagar Lake

Perched atop a peak in the Aravalli Hills, the Monsoon Palace offers sweeping vistas of Udaipur’s lakes and palaces, while Fateh Sagar Lake below is a favorite spot for lakeside strolls and boat rides.

When to Visit Udaipur

  • Winter (December – February)

Winter is the most pleasant and popular season to visit Udaipur, with temperatures ranging from 52°F to 82°F (11°C to 28°C). Days are sunny and mild—ideal for palace tours, rooftop dining, and sunset boat rides on Lake Pichola—while nights are comfortably cool. In December, the Shilpgram Crafts Fair showcases traditional arts and performances.
  • Spring (March – May)

Spring brings warm, sunny weather in March and vibrant celebrations like the Mewar Festival and Gangaur processions along the ghats. By April and May, temperatures rise between 85°F and 102°F (29°C to 39°C), making early morning sightseeing and breezy evening lake cruises the most comfortable way to explore.
  • Summer (June – August)

After hot days in June, the monsoon rains arrive in July and August, keeping temperatures around 75°F to 92°F (24°C to 33°C). Udaipur is one of the most magical places in Rajasthan during the monsoon—the lakes fill to the brim, the Aravalli Hills turn lush emerald green, and views from the Monsoon Palace are unforgettable.
  • Autumn (September – November)

Following the monsoon, Udaipur’s lakes are full and sparkling under clear skies, with temperatures ranging from 68°F to 90°F (20°C to 32°C). The pleasant climate and festive atmosphere during Navratri and Diwali—when palaces and lakeside ghats glow with thousands of lamps—make autumn a wonderful time to visit.

What an amazing tour. We saw whales, dolphins and porpoises. The crew was very friendly and enthusiastic. We could really tell they are very respectful towards the animals, we were able to see two humpbacks for nearly half an hour, everybody was silent, the engine was off and the crew was also in awe. Only when the whales left, the engine was back on and we also started moving again. We really felt like we had all the time in the world and we didn't disturb the animals.

We had an amazing time flying over the beautiful canyons, admiring the waterfalls from above. While we are both quite adventurous, I have an occasional fear of heights. The staff was incredibly friendly and professional, putting our minds perfectly at ease and making the best experience for us possible.

This was one of the BEST experiences I have ever had! We extended our trip into a two-tank dive and got to explore the surrounding areas of the garden eel bay before going into our manta show.

A wedding guest bought this voucher for me and my husband from our wedding registry via The Knot. We had Chiqui and Jonathan as our guides and they were great! Very personable and knowledgeable. They provided a cooler with water, soda and beer.

The catamaran was smooth and clean. The food was wonderful. The captain and staff were friendly and engaging. We could have have asked for a more fun and educational experience around the island. The snorkeling was wonderful with tons of fish, corral and eels.

Francesca, our guide, was super personable and knowledgeable about the city and legends of Venice. The tour started near the train station and followed through all the alleys and streets to San Marco Square. The weather and the sunset were absolutely beautiful as well.
