Vail is a globally famous ski area located about 100 miles west of Denver. The town was founded four years after the launch of the ski area of the same name. Vail (the town) was originally only a secondary thought to the ski area. Today, Vail is a year-round destination. Winters are centered around snow sports and social events. Summers include festivals as well as outdoor activities such as golfing, kayaking, hiking, and biking. With luxurious accommodations, fine dining and high-end bars, Vail is an upscale destination for people looking for an extravagant vacation.

  • The Skiing

Vail is unquestionably one of the top ski areas in the world. Vail ranks at the top of the charts in so many categories. It is the largest in Colorado. Vail has more annual visitors (1.6 million) than any other ski area in the nation.

Vail has mild and sunny summers. The average high temperature in July is 76 degrees, which makes for perfect weather for outdoor activities. Vail has incredible golf courses. Biking is a hugely popular activity, as bikers challenge themselves to ride over Vail Pass.

  • Wine and Dine

Out of all the Colorado mountain towns, Vail and Aspen have the best restaurants. A few of the best in Vail are sushi restaurant Matsuhisa (from the famous chef of Nobu in California), and Mountain Standard.
