Limon and Tortuguero

Located in the diverse province of Limon, Tortuguero is where the sea turtles come to nest—a true adventure for the wildlife fan. During the summer season the green sea turtles come here and understandably the small town of Tortuguero is very protective of this endangered species. Not accessible by car, the village of Tortuguero greets visitors who come in by boat and/or plane. It is well worth the visit to see what truly is the sea turtle paradise of the world. Rainforest abounds here and so tourists do get a chance to see a variety of other animals as well from monkeys to hundreds of bird species to numerous kinds of amphibians.

What an amazing tour. We saw whales, dolphins and porpoises. The crew was very friendly and enthusiastic. We could really tell they are very respectful towards the animals, we were able to see two humpbacks for nearly half an hour, everybody was silent, the engine was off and the crew was also in awe. Only when the whales left, the engine was back on and we also started moving again. We really felt like we had all the time in the world and we didn't disturb the animals.
