Though Cheboygan is a relatively small Michigan town, that doesn’t mean that there isn’t plenty to do here. As it sits along Lake Huron, it is definitely a place where those who love water activities will find tons to keep them occupied. Not to mention, the Cheboygan River gives the downtown a great deal of character as shops, restaurants and parks are situated along its banks. It really does make for a perfectly picturesque day of walking and taking in the sights and sounds of the area.

    This is probably Cheboygan’s biggest draw as there are sections that really do resemble something from a Norman Rockwell painting. Because the river runs through downtown Cheboygan, there are water views pretty much anywhere you go. Walk across the historic Bascule Bridge and enjoy the scenery.

    Cheboygan is known for its amazing lighthouses. As you look out over Lake Huron check out the Poe Reef Light House and the Cheboygan Crib Light House. From the downtown area along the river, you can see the Cheboygan Front Range Light House—that really is quite a few light houses for a small town.

    Cheboygan is situated on a major lake and a river runs through it—of course there are going to be plenty of outdoor activities to keep visitors busy. There’s a state park right there with scenic hiking trails. And there is definitely pretty much any water sport you can think of. You can also take a trip to the 400 acre Grass Bay Preserve featuring wetlands and wildlife.
