About

Hood River

A port on the Columbia River, Hood River is a fairly small city with a lot of heart. Their prime location on the water and within 30 miles of Mt. Hood makes them ideal for those tourists who want to experience a little of everything the Oregon outdoors has to offer. While their smaller size makes the city life a bit more manageable for those just stopping in for a visit. One of its more popular nicknames—the wind surfing capital of the world—basically says it all. People come to Hood River for the all of the outdoor action and then settle in to experience the amazing food, wineries, breweries and distilleries that the city features.

What an amazing tour. We saw whales, dolphins and porpoises. The crew was very friendly and enthusiastic. We could really tell they are very respectful towards the animals, we were able to see two humpbacks for nearly half an hour, everybody was silent, the engine was off and the crew was also in awe. Only when the whales left, the engine was back on and we also started moving again. We really felt like we had all the time in the world and we didn't disturb the animals.
