Things to See in Araucania And Lakes Region

  • Huerquehue National Park

    The park is framed by mountains, lagoons and forests. The ultimate hiker’s paradise, it offers visitors several opportunities to check out the wildlife, flora and fauna. You might come across the Andean condor, or perhaps you’ll spot an indigenous alpaca.
  • Villarrica

    One of the country’s most active volcanoes, Villarrica last erupted between December 2014 and June 2015. It is an extremely popular tourist destination. Guided hikes are available as are helicopter flights over top of the volcano.
  • Waterfalls

    The region certainly has plenty of breathtaking falls for visitors to enjoy. Salto El Leon is considered one of the more impressive to behold as it falls 92 meters. Directly nearby are also Salto Palguin as well as La China.

  • Winter

    Araucanía and the Lakes Region experience winter from June to August. During this season, temperatures can drop, and higher elevations may even see snowfall. Winter is an excellent time for snow sports enthusiasts, as several ski resorts like Pucon and Villarrica offer skiing and snowboarding opportunities. The region's natural beauty, including the snow-capped volcanoes and frozen lakes, creates a picturesque winter wonderland.
  • Spring

    Spring in Araucanía and the Lakes Region, from September to November, brings milder temperatures and a burst of colorful blossoms. The landscapes become vibrant with blooming flowers and lush vegetation, making it an ideal time for nature hikes and outdoor adventures. Spring is also a great time to visit the region's national parks, such as Conguillío National Park, to witness the awakening of nature.
  • Summer

    The summer season in Araucanía and the Lakes Region, from December to February, is warm and pleasant, with daytime temperatures ranging from the 70s to low 80s Fahrenheit. This is the peak tourist season when visitors flock to the region to enjoy its stunning lakes, including Lake Villarrica and Lake Llanquihue. What an amazing tour. We saw whales, dolphins and porpoises. The crew was very friendly and enthusiastic. We could really tell they are very respectful towards the animals, we were able to see two humpbacks for nearly half an hour, everybody was silent, the engine was off and the crew was also in awe. Only when the whales left, the engine was back on and we also started moving again. We really felt like we had all the time in the world and we didn't disturb the animals.

We had an amazing time flying over the beautiful canyons, admiring the waterfalls from above. While we are both quite adventurous, I have an occasional fear of heights. The staff was incredibly friendly and professional, putting our minds perfectly at ease and making the best experience for us possible.

This was one of the BEST experiences I have ever had! We extended our trip into a two-tank dive and got to explore the surrounding areas of the garden eel bay before going into our manta show.

This was one of our favorite experiences on the trip. Kensington Market is an incredible neighborhood with a vibrant culture. We had a LOT of food on this tour. If you're thinking this will be sample size HAHA you're wrong.

The catamaran was smooth and clean. The food was wonderful. The captain and staff were friendly and engaging. We could have have asked for a more fun and educational experience around the island. The snorkeling was wonderful with tons of fish, corral and eels.

My husband and I went on the catamaran cruise during our honeymoon in Milos... exceptional experience! I can not recommend it enough! Beautiful views, crystal clear water, delicious food and awesome crew! A trip to Milos would not be complete without this cruise! 10/10!

Francesca, our guide, was super personable and knowledgeable about the city and legends of Venice. The tour started near the train station and followed through all the alleys and streets to San Marco Square. The weather and the sunset were absolutely beautiful as well.
