Things to See in Patagonia

  • Torres del Paine

In many ways the star attraction in Patagonia, the park features glaciers, lakes, mountains and of course that to which the name refers: three granite peaks. They rise about 8000 ft above sea level and are beyond breathtaking to behold.
  • Carretera Austral

This is the road (Route 7) that runs through rural Patagonia. It is an extremely remote highway that leads to some of the best sites in the region. For those craving adventure this really does constitute what has been called the “ultimate road trip.”
  • Southern Patagonia Ice Field

The world’s second largest, this extra-polar ice field represents the remains of what covered southern Chilean during the last glacial age. Beneath the ice field there are two volcanoes. One of the more extreme environments in the world, this is makes for an amazing expedition.

When to Visit Patagonia

  • Winter

Patagonia experiences winter from June to August. During this season, temperatures are cold, and some areas may be covered in snow. Winter is an excellent time for adventure seekers and those who enjoy winter sports. Torres del Paine National Park and other regions offer opportunities for skiing, snowboarding, and snowshoeing. It's also a great time to witness frozen lakes and unique ice formations.
  • Spring

Spring in Patagonia, from September to November, brings milder temperatures and the awakening of nature. The landscapes become vibrant with blossoming flowers and new foliage. Spring is an ideal time for hiking and exploring the numerous trails in Torres del Paine and other national parks, as the weather is pleasant, and the tourist season is just beginning.
  • Summer

The summer season in Patagonia, from December to February, is the peak tourist time. It offers the most accessible weather for outdoor activities, with daytime temperatures ranging from the 50s to 70s Fahrenheit. Summer allows visitors to explore the breathtaking landscapes, glaciers, and fjords of Patagonia. It's also a prime time for wildlife spotting, including penguins, sea lions, and various bird species.
  • Fall

Fall in Patagonia, from March to May, brings cooler temperatures and the changing colors of the foliage. It's a quieter time in the region, making it perfect for travelers seeking a more serene experience. Fall is a great time for photography, as the golden hues of the landscapes create stunning vistas. It's also a good time for fishing, with many rivers and lakes teeming with trout.

What an amazing tour. We saw whales, dolphins and porpoises. The crew was very friendly and enthusiastic. We could really tell they are very respectful towards the animals, we were able to see two humpbacks for nearly half an hour, everybody was silent, the engine was off and the crew was also in awe. Only when the whales left, the engine was back on and we also started moving again. We really felt like we had all the time in the world and we didn't disturb the animals.

We had an amazing time flying over the beautiful canyons, admiring the waterfalls from above. While we are both quite adventurous, I have an occasional fear of heights. The staff was incredibly friendly and professional, putting our minds perfectly at ease and making the best experience for us possible.

This was one of the BEST experiences I have ever had! We extended our trip into a two-tank dive and got to explore the surrounding areas of the garden eel bay before going into our manta show.

This was one of our favorite experiences on the trip. Kensington Market is an incredible neighborhood with a vibrant culture. We had a LOT of food on this tour. If you're thinking this will be sample size HAHA you're wrong.

A wedding guest bought this voucher for me and my husband from our wedding registry via The Knot. We had Chiqui and Jonathan as our guides and they were great! Very personable and knowledgeable. They provided a cooler with water, soda and beer.

The catamaran was smooth and clean. The food was wonderful. The captain and staff were friendly and engaging. We could have have asked for a more fun and educational experience around the island. The snorkeling was wonderful with tons of fish, corral and eels.

Francesca, our guide, was super personable and knowledgeable about the city and legends of Venice. The tour started near the train station and followed through all the alleys and streets to San Marco Square. The weather and the sunset were absolutely beautiful as well.
