  • Climbing

At nearly 20,000ft and at the literal top of the continent people come from far and wide to climb the peak. There are a few different hike options including the "Coca-Cola route" which is for the, well, not so athletic travelers.

  • Wildlife

There's more to this mountain than simply reaching the top. Keep your eyes peeled for classic African wildlife along the way or just make a picnic and stay close to the base enjoying the various wildlife and breathtaking views.

  • Chala Crater Lake

Chala Crater Lake is located adjacent to Mount Kilimanjaro and covers about 1.6 miles. The views are gorgeous with the water colored in deep blues and turquoise. There are campsites along the lake as well, so you can have as immersive experience in this unique area as possible.

  • Winter is June - August and this is considered the ideal time to climb the mountain as it avoids precipitation and high winds.

  • Summer is December - February and is a great time to hike the mountain due to lower crowds and lesser winds. The only problem (or excitement) is that you may encounter snowfall towards the summit.
