When to Visit Paso Robles

  • Winter (December – February)

Winter in Paso Robles is cool and quiet, with temperatures ranging from the upper 30s to low 60s °F (3°C to 16°C). Rain is more frequent, but there are still plenty of clear, crisp days perfect for wine tasting by a fireplace. This is off-season, meaning fewer tourists and better lodging deals. Some wineries host cozy events and barrel tastings, offering a more intimate experience.
  • Spring (March – May)

Spring brings green hills, wildflowers, and warming temperatures that climb into the 70s °F (21°C). It’s a beautiful time to explore vineyards, stroll through downtown, and enjoy early-season wine festivals. Crowds begin to increase by May, but the balance of mild weather and blooming scenery makes this one of the best seasons to visit.
  • Summer (June – August)

Summer is warm and sunny, with daytime highs often reaching the 90s °F (32°C+). It’s the peak tourist season, especially on weekends, drawing visitors for wine tasting, concerts, and the California Mid-State Fair in July. Though hot during the day, evenings cool off, making it comfortable for outdoor dining and events. Reservations are recommended at popular wineries and hotels.
  • Autumn (September – November)

Autumn is harvest season, and the vineyards are alive with activity. Temperatures gradually drop from the 80s into the 60s °F (27°C to 16°C), and the golden light on the vines creates stunning views. This is one of the most celebrated times in Paso Robles, with wine festivals, harvest dinners, and crisp air that complements full-bodied reds. Expect a lively but still relaxed atmosphere.

What an amazing tour. We saw whales, dolphins and porpoises. The crew was very friendly and enthusiastic. We could really tell they are very respectful towards the animals, we were able to see two humpbacks for nearly half an hour, everybody was silent, the engine was off and the crew was also in awe. Only when the whales left, the engine was back on and we also started moving again. We really felt like we had all the time in the world and we didn't disturb the animals.
