WHY Pacific Coast IS AWESOME
  • Utria National Park

Composed of beaches, jungles and mangroves, this park is a must see when on the Pacific Coast of Colombia. Mountainous and wet (it gets one of the highest rainfall totals in the world) the park also is a great place to get up close to local culture as there are a number of small, very traditional fishing villages intersecting with the park.

  • Gorgona Island

Once a prison island, this has become a paradise for those seeking a true remote, isolated, jungle experience. A hub of eco-tourism, the island has a variety of wildlife to include monkeys, sloths, and then head out to the ocean to whale watch for the mighty humpbacks, even spot great white sharks as well as hammerheads.

  • Surfing

The Pacific Coast offers plenty of excitement for surfers. El Valle is one of the more popular destinations when it comes to catching some waves. The town itself has a very traditional vibe with dirt roads and humble buildings, most come here for the sea and of course the surfing.

  • Winter

The wet season along the Pacific Coast occurs from April to November. During this period, the region experiences heavy rainfall and thunderstorms. The rainforest flourishes with life, and the rivers and waterfalls flow vigorously. While travel during the wet season can be more challenging, it's a fantastic time for nature enthusiasts to witness the region's incredible biodiversity, including various bird species, marine life, and jungle creatures.

  • Summer

The dry season in the Pacific Coast spans from December to March. During this time, rainfall is minimal, and the weather is hot and humid. The dry season is the best time for travelers to visit the region's stunning beaches and coastal towns. Visitors can enjoy activities like whale watching (from June to October), snorkeling, and exploring the mangrove forests.
