This is a top ten list, but we included twelve (we must be drunk). Colorado has such a diversity of distilleries that it was impossible to narrow down the list any further.

Peach Street Distillers (Palisade)

The western slope of Colorado is typically known for the wine. Peach Street is a craft distillery that offers quite a variety. They produce gin, vodka, whiskey, brandy, and other specialty spirits.

Cockpit Craft Distillers (Colorado Springs)

This Colorado Springs distillery was fittingly started by an Air Force veteran (most importantly... thank you for serving in the military, and secondarily... thank you for serving the whiskey). The products and the tasting room are military-themed.

Leopold Bros. is a family-owned distillery based in Denver. Leopold has a huge variety of spirits, including gin, rum, whiskey, fruit liquors, and absinthe.

Stranahan's Colorado Whiskey (Denver)

Stranahan's is Colorado's first craft distillery. The distillery produces whiskey and nothing else. Every barrel is bottled by hand, in many cases by volunteers. The bottlers write a note on the label to let the consumer know what song they were listening to when bottling. rnrnFun fact - Stranahan's was Colorado's first legal distillery since prohibition.

Rising Sun is an award-winning distillery in Denver. The spirits are organic and made from scratch. Two bottles you must try are their Organic Vodka and their Colorado Chili Spirit (goes great in a bloody Mary).

Bouck Brothers is a new distillery located in Idaho Springs. Bouck Brothers prides itself on bringing some innovation to the whiskey industry. Be sure to try out their Miners Moonshine.

Fort Collins is known for their micro-breweries, but Feisty Spirits is putting FoCo on the map for distilleries. Feisty specializes in all things whiskey, including their flavor-infusions.

Vapor Distillery is an award-winning distillery in Boulder. They take pride in getting their water from the Arapaho Glacier. While Vapor has fantastic whiskey, gin, and vodka, their most unique product is their Ginskey. This spirit won the award for "World's Best Cask Gin" at the 2015 World Gin Awards in London.

Marble Distilling came up with a creative way to getting supplemental income while waiting for their whiskey to age. They added luxury lodging to their distillery.

Crested Butte is one of the most charming getaways in Colorado. While you're there, check out the best rum made in Colorado at Montanya Distillers. Montanya prides itself on using the best ingredients, crafting from scratch, and being environmentally friendly. The distillery is wind-powered.

Woody Creek produces whiskey, vodka, and gin. One of the most unique approaches that Woody Creek implements is that they grow their own potatoes that are used in their vodka.
