Step into the world of Outlander on a full-day tour from Edinburgh, exploring iconic filming locations and uncovering the history and stories behind the series. The journey visits Midhope Castle, the real-life Lallybroch and home of Jamie Fraser, Doune Castle, used as Castle Leoch and also featured in Game of Thrones and Monty Python’s Holy Grail, as well as the charming village of Culross, known as Cranesmuir in the series. Along the way, see Falkland, representing 1940s Inverness, and finish at the dramatic Blackness Castle, standing as Fort William in the show with sweeping views of the Forth Bridge, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The tour provides insight into Scotland’s rich history and the fascinating backstory behind each location. Guests can enjoy the architecture, picturesque streets, and cinematic scenery while discovering tales of witchcraft, royalty, and clan life that inspired Diana Gabaldon. Please note that some castles may close for filming or holidays, including Doune Castle, Blackness Castle, and Linlithgow Palace on select dates in December and January, and Midhope Castle from early January to mid-March. The tour returns to Edinburgh in the early evening.
