Altun Ha, Cave Tubing, and Zipline from Belize City
Three exciting adventures in one tour! Ziplining and cave tubing and a tour of Altun Ha Mayan Ruin!
In this mixed-bag tour in Belize, you travel for 50 minutes along the Old Northern Highway from Belize City. The Altun Ha Maya Temple is the closest excavated Maya Temple to Belize City near the Village of Rockstone Pond and is most visited by Belizean school children from all over the country. Its name means "Rockstone Water," and it has wide-open spaces. Due to this, the temples are accessible and easier to climb than Lamanai and Xunantunich. Don't let the hike worry you, though, as it's mostly on flat terrain; it is enjoyable and informative. The rainforest canopy shades the path and your tour guides will point out flora and fauna noteworthy to the area. You'll then be able to experience Belize's jungle from an elevated vantage point by zip-lining along its treetops. We'll help you outfit the required equipment afterward, just a short walk away. You'll then make your way over to the first platform, where an important safety briefing will follow, covering braking technique, balancing, and cable safety.
After trekking an ancient home of the Maya, you'll head west for 90 minutes on the Western Highway for a Cave Tubing Adventure and Zip Line tour. Once at the outpost, you'll be given a basic orientation and safety briefing before heading off on a 30-minute hike to the cave system, which includes wading through a few knee-deep water streams.
The Belize cave tubing tours through the Maya underworld on the cave branch river begin once you reach the cave entrance. Inside, you'll see intricate crystalline formations that line the cave with a majestic rise and fall of stalagmites and stalactites that add to the serene richness and grandiosity of Xibalba as it's known.
Your guides may stop at the mini waterfall and swimming area if there is time and you are up for an added adventure. After leaving the falls, you'll emerge into the sunlight and free float downstream, ushered by the gentle current and little rapids, to the harmony of birds and natural wildlife, which routes back to where the tour started.
