Atacama Tatio Geysers Tour
At 4320 meters above sea level, in the heart of La Cordillera de los Andes, nature abounds with the communion of earth, water, air, and fire which combined creates the awesome geothermal field called Tatio. Plumes and desert colors will welcome visitors as they walk through the Geyser. Witness a magical sunrise which makes an amazing contrast between mountains, steam, and sunlight. Here, stop and enjoy a good breakfast and then enjoy a refreshing hot spring bath (optional). After relaxing, return to San Pedro de Atacama where visitors will learn the history of places such as Putana Ford by observing its wildlife and communing with the customs and traditions of the local people.
On this eight-hour tour, rise at dawn and head through the mountains on a one-hour and forty-five-minute drive. Guests will be greeted at the Tatio, which is a place where they can be witnesses of the violent encounter between the boiling water (85° C) that springs from the depths of the earth. When the low temperature of the surface hits the boiling water, a surprising view of large plumes can be seen all over the three-km2 of this geothermal field.
Be sure to carry mineral water, sunscreen, sunglasses, a windbreaker jacket, cap or hat, appropriate shoes for natural ground walking.
