About Cacao Farm and Chocolate Making :

Chocolate is not only said to be an aphrodisiac, but also has many healthy properties in its purest organic form: the cacao bean. This bean was valued so much by the ancient Mayan people of the region that it was actually used as currency. On this tour, visit a traditional Mayan cacao farm and see chocolate making in its original form, the raw cacao bean, with the Mayan family who owns and operates several cacao farms in the country.
The farm owner is regarded as a local legend for companion planting and organic farming. His family has been doing traditional chocolate-making demonstrations to the Cayo District for many years. They seek to protect and promote the Mayan way of life.
After the farm tour and chocolate-making demonstration, indulge in real organic chocolate creations including the traditional Mayan drink enjoyed by only the elite Mayans of ancient times. It is a seasonal cacao wine made from white pulp found around each fresh cacao bean.
