Raft, Snorkel, and Dolphin Adventure
Beat the crowd to the Kealakekua Bay, one of Hawaii's premier snorkel spots with incredible visibility and calm conditions. Explore the Kona coastline on an exciting Zodiac ride. Get close-up encounters with dolphins and other marine life. Snorkel in the crystal clear water of Kealakekua Bay marine preserve, while seeing beautiful tropical fish and coral reef. Given the number of people in the bay in the early morning or late afternoon, this tour has been designed to fall between those times, hence "beating the crowd". While eating lunch, the captain will talk about the history of Kealakekua Bay and why the Captain Cook monument was erected here. After, there will be additional time to jump back into the water for a little more snorkeling.
Once everyone is done snorkeling, explore sea caves, lava tubes, and blowholes along with sightings of pods of spinner dolphins, manta rays, turtles, and perhaps pilot whales, bottlenose dolphins, and Humpback Whales (December to April).
The captain and crew are well versed in marine science, animal behavior, geology of the island's lava flows, Hawaiian history, culture, and folklore. The captains are part-entertainer and all pirate.
Note: Maximum 16 passengers per Zodiac raft. Due to the bouncy nature of this ride, persons with back or neck problems, or are pregnant are not allowed on the tour.
Duration: 5 hours
