Experience the thrill of climbing Mateo Peak on a full-day expedition in the Cordillera Blanca. This shared tour is designed for adventurous guests seeking a challenging high-altitude ascent in a single day. The route includes rocky trails, glacier navigation, and technical climbing with full safety equipment, culminating in breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding Andes.

The tour begins with hotel pickup in Huaraz at 3:00 a.m. Guests are transported to the base of the mountain, where climbing equipment—harnesses, boots, helmets, and crampons—is prepared. The ascent starts along rocky paths leading to the glacier, with guides providing safety instructions and support. Upon reaching the summit, guests have time to rest, take photographs, and admire the scenery before descending to the base for the return trip to Huaraz.

Know Before You Go
  • This is a high-altitude mountaineering activity; you must be very well-acclimated, having spent at least 3 days at high altitude prior to this ascent.
  • A high level of physical fitness is required to navigate the moraine and glacial sections.
  • Wear appropriate mountain clothing: thermal layers, waterproof jacket and pants, and warm gloves.
  • Bring high-energy snacks and at least 2 liters of water.
  • The guide reserves the right to cancel or turn back the ascent based on weather conditions or the physical state of the participants to ensure safety.
  • Tour is not recommended for pregnant women or those with back, heart, or joint conditions
  • The order of activities may change depending on weather or trail conditions
