Fly Fishing at the Falls: You’ll cast and strip flies from the platform of a steady jet boat and tease the strike of one of literally thousands of shad 1-5 lb shad swimming up river. Often called the “freshwater tarpon”, the American Shad can be an absolute blast on the fly and numbers hooked can add up quickly. This fun 4-hour session is in the month of June on the Willamette River not far from Portland, OR. This is urban fishing at its most fun. From the jet boat ride on the Willamette to hard-fighting shad (and a lot of 'em), it's an experience not to be missed. Duration: 4 hours Often you’ll likely see sturgeon roll near the boat, salmon jump the falls and enjoy other sights that can only be experienced from the water. All the gear is provided and water and soft drinks are in the boat. Whether you are an expert angler or never held a fly rod anglers of all levels enjoy the battle of the shad!
