Food Carts of Portland Bike Tour
Portland's famous food carts are scattered all over the city's five (now six) quadrants, over 600 in total, in over 60 pods! On this 6 to 10-mile bike ride and culinary experience, you'll ride through some local favorites, sampling everything from Oregon farm-to-table delights to snacks appropriate to late-night cravings. Portland is the first city where food trucks, or "carts," were permanently parked instead of going and coming every day.
This tour meets in the thriving SE industrial district where you'll be fitted for a bike and helmet. Head on a neighborhood ride to three of the pods, and hear the fascinating tale of how Portland came to be the epicenter of the food cart craze. Sample food at each pod, with an option for dessert. Some stops will tell you a bit more about the food cart story.
The focus of this tour is on locally-owned businesses with a great story. Your guides will take you to their favorites, many of which were important in creating the food cart scene as it exists today. Expect flavors and fusions that tell not only a culinary, but also a cultural, tale.
