Kick off Lisbon’s greatest hits outside the Church of São Roque in Bairro Alto, where your guide lays out the plan for the afternoon before heading downhill into the neighborhood’s back streets. Wander through Praça Luís de Camões on the border of Chiado and Bairro Alto, then continue to a beloved local tasca for two of Lisbon’s favorite savory bites: cod fish cake and beef croquette, eaten the local way while standing outside. The walk continues into Rossio, Lisbon’s most iconic square, with its wave-patterned pavement and historic fountain. Just beyond it, at a tasca that has been serving the same recipe since 1932, bite into a bifana bathed in mustard. The tour finishes with the flakiest, sweetest pastel de nata in the city, fresh from the oven.
