Islas Ballestas Boat Tour Galapagos of Peru Experience

Boat tour to the Ballestas Islands to see penguins, sea lions, birds, and coastal wildlife near Paracas.

Details

Known as the “Galapagos of Peru,” the Ballestas Islands are a remarkable wildlife destination along the Peruvian coast. Unexpectedly, Humboldt penguins share the rocky shores with sea lions and cormorants, while playful dolphins often accompany boats in the surrounding waters. Depending on the season, whales may also be sighted, offering unforgettable encounters with Peru’s rich marine biodiversity. Dramatic rock formations, nesting birds, and the vast Pacific create a truly captivating coastal experience.

Begin with a scenic journey along the Peruvian coastline before a two-hour excursion to the Ballestas Islands. Along the way, admire the “Candelabro,” a mysterious giant geoglyph etched into the hillside in the style of the Nazca Lines. Arrive at the islands to observe colonies of sea lions, Humboldt penguins, guanay and chuita birds, pelicans, and thousands of guano birds. Visit the sea lion maternity area and enjoy stunning views of the rugged landscape and abundant wildlife. The tour concludes with a return to the dock, completing an immersive encounter with Peru’s coastal treasures.
