Jakarta: Bogor Cultural Tour with Botanical Gardens

The tour starts with pickup from your accommodation in Jakarta, then it's time to escape the hustle and bustle of the busy city and travel out into the peaceful countryside as you head to the nearby city of Bogor. Your first stop of the day is Bogor's beautiful botanic gardens located at the heart of the city. These world-class gardens cover an area of around 85 acres and were officially opened by the Dutch in 1817. Early researchers used these gardens to develop a variety of crops including tea and tobacco, and the park is still a major center for botanical research in Indonesia.
Next, take a visit to gongsmiths in Indonesia and watch how the traditional techniques are still in use today. Learn about the way the instruments are melted over fire and beaten by hand, a process which takes weeks to produce just one gong. After the gongsmiths, immerse yourself in the traditional Kampung way of life at a local handmade puppet souvenir shop.
