During a kambo ceremony, trained practitioners administer the kambo secretion using a small healing incense stick to create superficial burns on the skin, only penetrating the first two layers of the skin. Approximately 1 Liter of distilled water is consumed before the medicine is applied. The frog secretion is then put on the burns, allowing the bioactive compounds to enter the body. Kambo can have various health benefits, such as detoxification, immune system enhancement, improved digestion, pain relief, increased bodily strength and fortification, psycho-spiritual awakening or shifts in perspective, mental clarity and increased energy.
