Norris Glacier Fly-In Hike and Packraft
Your packraft adventure begins with a scenic floatplane ride, taking off from the water and flying toward the mouth of the Taku Inlet, a gateway to the flowing glaciers of the Juneau Icefield. Along the way, keep an eye out for mountain goats, black bears, and moose. After landing on the Norris Glacier-fed lake, you’ll hike over glacially carved terrain to a cove where your packraft awaits. Your guides will outfit you with a single-person packraft and teach you paddling techniques before you set off. Paddle past icebergs, surrounded by breathtaking mountain and glacier landscapes, as you approach the Norris Glacier.
Once you reach the glacier, beach your packraft and, with the help of your guide, strap into micro-spikes to explore the surreal moonscape-like terrain on foot. Take in panoramic views of Norris and Taku glaciers as you search for crevasses, glacier pools, moulins, and other ever-changing ice features. After your hike, paddle back to shore, where your floatplane awaits to return you to Juneau. A world-class adventure at the Norris Glacier is waiting for you!
