Overview

Boat Tour to the Cliffs of Moher and Aillwee Cave Experience

A 13-hour tour from Dublin featuring Aillwee Cave, a Cliffs of Moher boat cruise, and cliff-top views with O’Brien’s Tower visit.

Details

The tour departs Dublin at 6:50 AM from the Molly Malone statue on Suffolk Street, beginning a full-day journey through the dramatic landscapes of Ireland’s west coast. The first stop is Aillwee Cave in the Burren, where a guided 45-minute underground tour explores a 330-million-year-old cave system filled with waterfalls, rock formations, ancient bear remains, and vast chasms hidden 850 metres beneath the surface. This fascinating geological experience offers insight into the region’s natural history and underground wonders.

The adventure continues with a one-hour Cliffs of Moher boat cruise, providing a spectacular sea-level perspective of Ireland’s most iconic cliffs as they tower above the Atlantic Ocean. After a lunch stop in Fanore village with distant views of the Aran Islands, the tour moves to the summit of the Cliffs of Moher, where visitors can explore O’Brien’s Tower and the visitor centre while enjoying panoramic coastal scenery. The day concludes with a return to Dublin in the evening after an unforgettable combination of underground exploration, ocean views, and dramatic cliffside landscapes.

Know Before You Go
  • Day tours from Dublin include natural wonders and historic sights, last more than eight hours, and are designed with comfort and convenience in mind for all passengers; to make sure you get the very best out of the tour, it is advisable to bring a camera, sunglasses, a raincoat just in case it rains, a charging cable and power bank to keep your devices charged (as some buses have charging ports but not all), and spending money or a credit card for souvenirs and tipping the driver.
  • Appropriate shoes for walking on rough terrain are recommended. If there’s one thing you can predict about Ireland’s weather, it’s that you can’t predict it, so stay prepared and dress for the conditions; comfortable and supportive footwear is also useful, as the terrain may be beautiful but can be a little uneven.
