Machu Picchu, the Sacred Valley, and Cusco
Overview
THE EXPERIENCE

A local guide leads couples on a 3-day tour finishing with a private tour of Machu Picchu.

The first stop on this tour is the traditional village of Chawaytire, famous for its tradition of high quality, handwoven textiles. Couples will meet with local weaver to learn about their dying, spinning, and weaving process then continue to the historic town of Pisac. Begin at the town`s famous Inca fortress featuring extensive terracing and dramatic views of the surrounding valley then descend to the local market. Couples will have some time to browse artisan stalls and sample fresh empanadas before continuing to the agricultural community village of Chichubamba. Enjoy a traditional lunch with a local family to learn about ancient farming practices and visit a family owned ceramics workshop.

On the second day of the tour, depart on an easy and incredibly scenic hike toward Perollniyoc waterfall. There, couples will pause for a rest near the base of the falls then climb to interesting Inca ruins directly above. Couples will continue on to the original Inca village of Ollantaytambo to explore the pretty center and adjoining ruins before a scenic, late afternoon train ride to Aguas Calientes. Take the evening to visit local hotsprings and rest up for Machu Picchu the following morning.

Day three of the tour, couples awake and catch the bus to the gates of this Wonder of the World. Couples will ascend stone steps through heavy tree cover to finally emerge at the top of the world, Machu Picchu! The incredible Inca stone construction will be spread below alternately hidden and revealed by clouds.  Couples will have a 2.5 to 3-hour private tour with their guide followed by time to explore on their own.  After, descend to Aguas Calientes for the return train.
