Experience a beautiful sanctuary reserve and see different species of migratory and endemic birds that nest in the Yucatan. On the way, tour guests will visit Valladolid and some Mayan communities! In Yucatan there are no real rivers. They have estuaries which are characteristic formations that are inputs from sea to the mainland, forming channels with abundant aquatic vegetation called mangroves. This nature is worth exploring, it is a unique experience. Declared "Biosphere Reserve" with 60,000 acres, Rio Lagartos, located 2.5 hours from Playa del Carmen, is home to the largest population of American Flamingos in Mexico. They build their nests in the spring and summer. Its coastal lagoons are temporary resting areas for flocks of winter territory migratory and local birds. There is a current record of almost 400 different species of birds in the area. The beaches provide nesting habitat for the hawksbill and white sea turtle.
