The salt-water river of the Rio Lagartos nature reserve winds its way through a dense mangrove forest home to hundreds of bird species and crocodiles, leading you to the breeding ground of the enigmatic pink flamingo.

This is a truly worthwhile experience full of unique vistas and incredible photo opportunities. Top it off by visiting a fantastic cenote to freshen up on the return journey home. The cenotes of Yucatan are just as varied as around Tulum, but with virtually none of the visitors.
