Vök Baths
Iceland’s only floating infinity pools! Experience the age-old Icelandic tradition of bathing in a natural geothermal pool.
Iceland is famous for its geothermal activity, but East Iceland is normally considered a cold spot with little geothermal heat. This makes Vök Baths a unique attraction. For centuries, people living around Lake Urriðavatn noticed certain areas of the lake that curiously remained ice-free during winter. These ice-free patches are known in Icelandic as “Vök.”
The warm water flowing from the ground at Lake Urriðavatn is so pure that it is the only geothermal water in Iceland certified as drinkable. Enjoy a taste of the water and relax with tea made from local herbs at the complimentary tea bar.
Enjoy a drink at the in-water bar: The bar is accessible directly from the pools and offers a selection of beer, wine, soft drinks, and ice slush for purchase. You can use the wristband provided at check-in to pay for purchases and settle the bill when you check out.
Dine at Vök Bistro: Vök Bistro offers a selection of dishes made with fresh, locally sourced ingredients. If you'd like to dine during your visit, booking a table in advance is recommended.
This keeps the experience aligned with Slaka without unnecessarily removing useful information. The key is making sure the only complimentary refreshment mentioned is the local herbal tea, which is included in Slaka.
