Overview

Xunantunich and Horseback Riding in Western Belize Experience

Explore a must-see Belizean national treasure by horseback.

Details

Saddle a horse and ride towards the ancient Mayan temple of Xunantunich. You’ll meet your guide at the departure point for a basic safety and orientation briefing before leading the way down well-maintained trails and the winding path by Mopan River.

You'll have the opportunity to witness local life along the ride. Souvenirs, hammocks, and blankets are available from the many vendors near the river as well.

At a point, you'll board the hand-cranked ferry that has carried many thousands to and from the calm beauty of this Maya Temple. Exploration of Xunantunich begins on the other bank of the River.

Afterward, enjoy lunch and then take in the lush greenery as you ride by horseback back to the departure point.
