Best of Amsterdam's Food Scene: Private Progressive Dinner

On your food tour, you will have the chance to enjoy some of the best spots in Amsterdam, including a small brewery that opened in the mid-80's. The one you will visit was opened by a musician in a former bathhouse and has grown to become one of the city's favorite microbreweries, even though there are nearly 700 across Amsterdam. At another stop, you'll visit one of the traditional smoke-stained, dark wood walled cafes, called locally a 'brown bar.' Here, your guide will get you bitter balls and a shot of Jenever, which is the juniper-flavoured traditional liquor in the Netherlands, Belgium and adjoining areas in northern France and northwestern Germany. This liquor is thought of as a cross between whiskey and gin, and the EU has it so tightly regulated that it can only be produced in two countries.
