About City of Birds Tour - Tandem Kayak :

For this tandem City of Birds kayak tour, you will meet at Boom Island and be shuttled up to Anoka County Riverfront Regional Park. After a paddle skill introduction on land, you will wind downriver past islands and under bridges, toward the old Port of Minneapolis. Pause to gawk at the squawking residents of two special islands that make up the great blue heron rookery - the City of Birds - also home to great egrets, cormorants and turtles. You'll enjoy the river's current and one of the most distinctive skyline views from anywhere in town.
Depending on conditions, wrap up with either a visit to the Bassett Creek lagoon or a straight shot back into the Boom Island marina. As with all PBGC tours, the route and duration is subject to flexibility depending on weather conditions, water level and flow-rate, and group dynamics. Distance will be reflected accordingly, but averages 6 miles on this stretch.
