THE SEASONS
  • Summer in Bariloche is warm and breezy, with temperatures ranging from 50°F to 75°F (10°C to 24°C). Long daylight hours and comfortable weather make this an ideal time for hiking, kayaking, mountain biking, and swimming in the region’s clear lakes.

  • Autumn transforms Bariloche into a canvas of fiery reds, oranges, and golds, with temperatures ranging from 40°F to 65°F (4°C to 18°C). The crowds begin to thin, creating a more peaceful atmosphere ideal for scenic drives and quiet hikes. The Circuito Chico and the Seven Lakes Route are particularly beautiful with fall foliage reflecting in the water. It’s also a wonderful time for birdwatching and photography, and the cooler temperatures are great for cozy meals in mountain lodges or lakeside restaurants.

  • Winter in Bariloche is magical, with temperatures from 25°F to 45°F (-4°C to 7°C) and regular snowfall. The city transforms into Argentina’s top ski destination, centered around Cerro Catedral, one of South America’s most developed ski resorts. Visitors flock to the slopes for skiing, snowboarding, and snowshoeing, while the town lights up with winter festivities and cozy mountain charm.

  • Spring brings a gentle thaw, with temperatures between 35°F and 60°F (2°C to 16°C) and a gradual return of greenery and wildflowers. As snow melts from the lower elevations, hiking and biking trails begin to reopen, and the waterfalls and rivers swell with snowmelt. Fewer tourists mean more solitude on the trails and in town, and the clear skies make for great photography and sightseeing. This is a lovely time for boat excursions.
