
Cape Coast is best known for its sad history; it is a key port for slave trade through the 19th century. These days you can tour historical locations related to that, as well as enjoy the small bustling city.
This World Heritage Site was once home/prison to captives destined to make the arduous journey across the Atlantic to be traded as slaves in North America. Now you can visit the castle to learn more about the sad history, and see the drastic difference in living conditions between the slaves below, and the Europeans above.
At nearly 150 square miles, Kakum National Park is covered in tropical forest and is home to many indigenous species. The highlight for many visitors is wandering along the treetop sky bridges.
Cape Coast is ridiculously hot and humid so frequent trips to the beach should be mandatory. There are some gorgeous beaches within 15-miles of the city with good and cheap food and drinks.

Always summer in Cape Coast where the high is usually in the mid-80's. May - July is wet season but we welcome that in this kind of climate.
