THE SEASONS
  • The dry season is one of the best times to visit Koh Samui, with temperatures ranging from 77°F to 88°F (25°C to 31°C). The weather is sunny and pleasant, with minimal rainfall and low humidity, making it ideal for beach activities, sightseeing, and exploring the island’s natural beauty. During this period, popular beaches like Chaweng, Lamai, and Bophut are bustling with activity, offering clear waters perfect for swimming, snorkeling, and diving. The dry season also coincides with the holiday period, so expect more crowds and higher accommodation prices.

  • Koh Samui’s hot season brings temperatures from 82°F to 95°F (28°C to 35°C), making it the warmest time of year on the island. While it can be quite hot, the sea breeze offers some relief, and the beaches are perfect for water activities like swimming, snorkeling, and jet skiing. Early mornings and late afternoons are ideal for exploring Koh Samui’s attractions, such as the Big Buddha Temple (Wat Phra Yai), the Secret Buddha Garden, or hiking to Na Muang Waterfalls.

  • The rainy season, also known as the monsoon season, brings warm, humid weather with temperatures ranging from 77°F to 88°F (25°C to 31°C). While rain showers are common, they are often brief, allowing for sunny breaks throughout the day. The rainfall brings lushness to Koh Samui’s landscapes, making it a great time to explore the island’s waterfalls, forests, and temples. Na Muang Waterfalls, surrounded by lush jungle, are particularly beautiful during this time, with stronger water flow from the rains. Although it is the rainy season, Koh Samui does not experience as intense monsoon conditions as other parts of Thailand.

  • November marks the end of the rainy season, but it can still bring heavy rainfall, as this is typically Koh Samui’s wettest month. Temperatures remain warm, around 77°F to 86°F (25°C to 30°C). While November may have more consistent rains, this is an excellent time to take advantage of reduced rates on accommodations and a more tranquil atmosphere, as fewer tourists visit during this period. The lush surroundings are perfect for spa retreats, yoga, and wellness activities.
