The city of St. Louis grew up on the banks of the Mississippi River. It naturally lends itself to lush vegetation and gorgeous city gardens. Many will take an entire day strolling through the likes of Citygarden in the heart of downtown and the Missouri Botanical Garden, while also stopping to pick up some fresh fruits and veggies at many of the local farmers’ markets.
St. Louis make no mistake about it, is definitely not a sleepy Midwestern city—quite the opposite. There are blues and jazz clubs galore for those true music aficionados. As mentioned, the Gateway Arch isn’t the only St. Louis attraction, but it is certainly one that just about every tourist hits. From the top you can actually see out about 30 miles in each direction. Yep, this is a city serious about its beer. One of the most famous breweries in the world is headquartered here after all. There are near two dozen brewing companies in the city. It is so abundant in beer that St. Louis even holds a yearly festival to celebrate the acclaimed beverage.
St. Louis doesn't have a lot of pro sports team (thanks Rams), but the community loves the teams they do have. The Cardinals and Blues have each won world championships recently (Cards most recently in 2011 and Blues won their first in 2019).
