Keough is one of the best spots in California for camping and hot springs. The resort was established nearly 100 years ago (1919). Keough is quaint and more for RVers than 5-star travelers.
One of the most upscale resorts on our list, the Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn has a championship golf course, fantastic restaurant, and of course, the hot springs. The resort opened in 1927. It is a pretty cool switch-up on a trip to wine country.

The only reason that Glen Ivy didn't rank higher on our list is because they have recently received pretty consistent service complaints on online forums.
Mono Hot Springs may be the best on our list for outdoors enthusiasts. The resort is on the San Joaquin River and there is plenty of excellent hiking and fishing in the area. The resort was built in 1935, and many of the cabins still carry the decor from several decades ago. However, that is part of the charm and you can still get a meal at the restaurant and a massage at the spa.
Sitting halfway between San Francisco and Los Angeles is Paso Robles, home of River Oaks Hot Springs Spa. Paso Robles makes an awesome romantic getaway as it is one of California's most underrated wine regions. River Oaks is one of the best on this list when it comes to their spa services. Consider booking the couples package.
Surprise Valley is an incredibly peaceful resort. Many of the rooms have private hot tubs on porches. Visitors enjoy a quiet soak under the stars. The resort is settled near the mountains and the views are fantastic.
Numbers two and three on our list are both in Ukiah, about two hours north of San Francisco, and the ranking just comes down to personal preference. Orr has a very laid-back and peaceful atmosphere that is attractive to both tourists and the local community.

Indian Springs is a full resort about 40 minutes from Napa. The Main Pool is an olympic-sized pool for all guests. More recently, the resort added the Adult Pool. Indian Springs includes dining and a hotel. This make an incredible wine country getaway.
