Take a full-day adventure to Laguna 69, a glacial lake in the heart of the Cordillera Blanca. Hike through scenic valleys, witness the striking turquoise waters, and enjoy breathtaking alpine vistas.

Travel through picturesque towns such as Carhuaz, Mancos, Ranrahirca, and Yungay, passing the Llanganuco ravine and the Chinancocha and Orconcocha lagoons along the way. Reach Laguna 69 at 4604 meters, with free time to admire views of the snow-capped peaks of Chacraraju, Pisco, and Huascarán, Peru’s highest mountain at 6768 meters.

Return along the same trail to Yuraccorral, then transfer back to Huaraz for drop-off at your hotel.

Know Before You Go
  • This is a physically demanding high-altitude trek; we strongly recommend spending at least 2 days in Huaraz to acclimate before attempting this hike.
  • Wear sturdy hiking shoes and dress in layers (wicking base layer, fleece, and a waterproof jacket).
  • Bring sun protection (hat, sunglasses, sunscreen) and insect repellent.
  • Pack plenty of water and high-energy snacks for the trail.
  • The weather in the Cordillera Blanca can change rapidly; a raincoat or poncho is essential.
