Nevado de Toluca is 4,680 m high (13,800 ft.) vs. Mexico City with ~2,300 m. The hike has a 538 m elevation gain on the trail, so for travelers coming from lower altitudes, it's recommended to take at least 1-2 days in Mexico City upon arrival for adaptation to avoid altitude sickness.
