Cerro Tortuguero is considered an inactive volcano. 119 meters high, located in the foothills of the community of San Francisco, Cerro Tortuguero is an ancient volcano that currently constitutes the highest point of this region of the Costa Rican Caribbean.
You'll be leaving by boat from the village of Tortuguero to go to the community of San Francisco. After a hike to the top, you will enjoy a panoramic view of the Tortuguero canals, the rainforest, the lagoons, and the coasts of the Caribbean Sea.
Get ready for this beautiful adventure where it is possible to find three-toed sloths, tapirs, basilisks (a species of lizard that runs on the water), iguanas, birds of all kinds (in Tortuguero there are 405 species), and monkeys (Howler or Congo, Spider, and White-faced).
