Wat Pho and Wat Arun Tour
A guided 3-hour afternoon tour of Bangkok’s Wat Pho and Wat Arun. Includes the Reclining Buddha and a Chao Phraya River ferry crossing.
This three-hour afternoon tour, starting daily at 15:30 hrs, explores two of Bangkok’s most iconic temples with an expert English-speaking guide. The experience begins at Wat Pho, the Temple of the Reclining Buddha, a 20-acre complex recognized as the largest temple in Bangkok and one of the oldest, built around 200 years before Bangkok became the capital. The site features the impressive Reclining Buddha, measuring 46 meters long and 15 meters high, symbolizing the Buddha’s passage into nirvana. The grounds also contain over 1,000 Buddha images, many originating from the former capitals of Ayutthaya and Sukhothai.
From Wat Pho, a short walk leads to Tha Tien Pier for a ferry crossing over the Chao Phraya River to Thonburi, where Wat Arun, the Temple of Dawn, stands as one of Thailand’s most remarkable landmarks. Its towering central prang, over 70 meters high, represents Mount Meru, the mythological home of the gods. The temple’s intricate design and riverside setting create one of Bangkok’s most iconic views.
