A city situated in the ancient remains of lava flow, Medford is all about holding on to its roots while revitalizing for the future. With some pretty expansive local parks, Medford has a terrific hiking and biking culture. Not to mention, as the city is near the Rogue River there is always plenty of rafting, kayaking and canoeing action in which to partake. *Side note: portions of The River Wild were filmed right near here. The general vibe of Medford is one of artsy meets modern. As it has recently undergone a massive downtown reconstruction effort, there is now more than ever to do or see in Medford. Take in a movie or go to an art gallery. Visit the famed Harry & David store right in South Medford and then eat at one of the many popular restaurants in the city limits.

  • Wine & Cheese

Given its climate and location, Medford is definitely known for its wineries. Pair this with some of the fine cheeses that come out of the region and you definitely have the makings of a very tasty afternoon.

  • Live Productions

With some of the best live theater on the west coast, Medford is home to The Craterian, famously a favorite of Ginger Rogers (at one time renamed in her honor). Here you can catch everything from modern dance, to symphonies, to fun family concerts.

  • Golf

Medford is surrounded by some great courses. They have a course to suit just about every skill level, beginner to pro. Bring your clubs (or rent some) and spend a bright and sunny day on the fairway. rnrn

THE SEASONS
  • Medford is relatively dry compared to coastal Oregon. Winter is the "wet season", but it isn't too rainy. Temps are typically in the mid-40s.

  • Spring can be a fun time to visit as so much of the area is focused on wine. The area is beautiful as the wineries start to come to life with fresh vines. Also, there are some wine release parties from the previous harvest.

  • Summer is fairly hot and dry, with highs in the upper-80s. Golf is popular, as are other outdoor activities.

  • Fall is a great time to visit for the wine harvest. October is mild, with highs near 70 degrees and it is still reasonably dry.
