Interpretive panels and guides share a fascinating history from ancient times when the Mi'kmaq arrived in Kjipuktuk, the 'Great Harbour', to the arrival of the British in 1749, to the imprisonment of Acadians during the Deportation of 1755-63, and to the protection of the city during the World Wars.
Georges Island was an integral part of the Halifax Defence Complex and played a role in the defence of Canada and the development of Nova Scotia.
