Old Fort and New Locks Tour
An eight-hour tour exploring the Panama Canal, Atlantic Bridge, and Chagres National Park!
Your first stop is the Panama Canal Expansion Visitor Center at Aguaclara Locks. See the new, bigger, set of locks recently completed in 2016 and the giant ships that they hold! Then cross the newest bridge over the canal, known as the Atlantic Bridge, and head into the Chagres National Park to visit the UNESCO world heritage site of Fort San Lorenzo, first built during the late 16th century, which stands guard at the mouth of the Chagres river. Monkeys, sloths, and anteaters are often seen, as are several species of birds, lizards, and butterflies.
Before you head back to Panama City, stop for lunch on the water at the historic US Fort Sherman which is now a nice little marina. Enjoy the food, scenery and embrace the experience that has been such an important part of Panama's history since the very beginning.
