Part of what makes work with the environment so difficult these days is just how fractured nature has become. So fractured in fact that wild animals have little choice but to take up residence in cities and the very ecological processes that support life on this planet are as threatened as the Earth’s biodiversity. For over 40 years, the WILD Foundation has taken action around the belief that one of the best solutions for people, wildlife, and the planet, is to give nature the space she needs to produce the things life needs most: clean air, clean water, healthy soils, and a stable climate. Nature needs all her parts and processes to continue to function for the benefit of life on Earth, human and wild alike. To that end we facilitate the Nature Needs Half Network, an international movement for the preservation of half the planet’s nature, to advance a solution that permits nature to continue to work on our behalf. We also initiated and facilitate the first continental-scale conservation agreement between Canada, the United States, and Mexico, with the goal of making it easier for our leaders to work across national boundaries in the defense of nature.
