  • Winter (December - February)

Winter in Costa Maya is one of the best times to visit, as temperatures range from 70°F to 85°F (21°C to 29°C). This season brings cooler, comfortable weather, with little to no rain, making it perfect for outdoor activities. The pleasant conditions are ideal for exploring the nearby Mayan ruins, such as Chacchoben, which offer a fascinating look at the region’s rich history. Winter is also a fantastic time for water activities, from snorkeling and diving in the crystal-clear waters of the Caribbean Sea to exploring the Mesoamerican Reef, the second-largest barrier reef in the world.

  • Spring (March - May)

Spring in Costa Maya brings warmer temperatures, ranging from 75°F to 90°F (24°C to 32°C). The days are sunny and perfect for beach relaxation or water sports like jet skiing, paddleboarding, and sailing. This is also a great time to visit the Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve, a UNESCO World Heritage site located nearby, where you can explore lush wetlands, spot exotic wildlife, and enjoy eco-tours. The weather is still dry, and the crowds are thinner than during winter, making it a great season to enjoy the town’s quiet beaches, such as Mahahual Beach, where you can unwind or grab a drink at one of the beachfront bars.

  • Summer (June - August)

Summer in Costa Maya is hot and humid, with temperatures ranging from 80°F to 95°F (27°C to 35°C). The summer months also mark the beginning of the rainy season, with brief but intense tropical downpours. While it’s warmer and rainier, this is still a popular time for visitors who come for the region's diving and snorkeling opportunities, particularly along the vibrant Mesoamerican Reef. Marine life flourishes during this time, making it perfect for underwater exploration. Since it’s not the peak tourist season, accommodations and activities may be more affordable, and beaches tend to be less crowded.

  • Fall (September - November)

Autumn in Costa Maya continues the rainy season, with temperatures ranging from 75°F to 90°F (24°C to 32°C). September and October are the peak months for tropical storms and hurricanes, so visitors during this time should be prepared for the possibility of wet weather. However, if you're willing to take the risk, you'll be rewarded with fewer tourists, lower prices, and a more relaxed, tranquil atmosphere. This season is perfect for travelers who want to avoid the crowds while still enjoying Costa Maya's beautiful beaches and cultural offerings.
