When looking for the real distilling veterans in Oregon find your way to Clear Creek Distillery where they’ve been making spirits for over 30-years. They have a one-of-a-kind focus on brandies and grappa.

Stillwagon Distillery (Charleston)

If you’re looking for a loving dedication to rum look no further. There’s Devil’s Own Gold Rum, Spiced Rum, Black Spiced Rum, Pineapple Rum, Mocha Rum, Feijoa Rum, Cranberry Rum…we’re starting to sound like Bubba; but you get the picture. There’s also a new absinthe project they’re working on, there are some fun new flavors on the horizon at Stillwagon!

House Spirits (Portland)

For those flying into Oregon for a weekend of distillery tours your first stop might have to be, well, your first stop. House Spirits has a location within the Portland Airport where you can get your first taste of the city. To see the distillery itself, travel into Portland along the eastern side of the Willamette.

A trip to Tualatin Valley Distilling is like a journey through time. With classical absinthe at a blinding 70% ABV, an usquebaugh (traditional whiskey), and single malts you’ll feel like Bill and Ted turned 21 and went on a bogus journey through alcoholic history!

Stein Distillery (Joseph)

Venturing seven hours from Portland for a drink might sound crazy but we just call it ambitious. That’s where Stein Distillery is located where you can see the distillery itself, for a wonderful in-person experience. If you can’t spare the time to drive that far away, consider hitting up their new tasting room in Beaverton.

Thomas & Sons/Townshend’s Distillery (Portland)

After botanical blending of teas for years the team at Thomas & Sons has embarked on a path to take those skills to making unique and flavorful spirits. Be sure to check out their creations that use teas such as the Tea Spirit No. 5 Smoke Tea, which uses the smoky Lapsang Souchong tea.

Rogue Spirits (Portland)

You may recognize Rogue from our Ten Best Breweries in Oregon but they’ve been distilling spirits since 2003. Their Spruce Gin was named “World’s Best Gin” at the World Beverage Competition in Geneva, Switzerland. Keeping up with another craze, they also produce a rye whiskey as well as a single malt whiskey.

Crater Lake Spirits by Bendistillery (Bend)

This is “America’s most award winning small batch distillery” and is located just as you enter into the Pleasantville-esque Bend, Oregon. They do free tastings and tours seven days per week on their 24-acre farm! Technically it’s actually located in Tumalo, but saying that “Bendistillery” is a distillery that is not in Bend seemed like a strange sentence.

Oregon seems to be turning into the “Kentucky of the West” thanks to distillers such as Oregon Spirit Distillers. These guys have been in pursuit of the perfect American whiskey with their rye options, bourbon, and wheat whiskeys as well. Stop in for some dark liquor here.
