After botanical blending of teas for years the team at Thomas & Sons has embarked on a path to take those skills to making unique and flavorful spirits. Be sure to check out their creations that use teas such as the Tea Spirit No. 5 Smoke Tea, which uses the smoky Lapsang Souchong tea.
You may recognize Rogue from our Ten Best Breweries in Oregon but they’ve been distilling spirits since 2003. Their Spruce Gin was named “World’s Best Gin” at the World Beverage Competition in Geneva, Switzerland. Keeping up with another craze, they also produce a rye whiskey as well as a single malt whiskey.
This is “America’s most award winning small batch distillery” and is located just as you enter into the Pleasantville-esque Bend, Oregon. They do free tastings and tours seven days per week on their 24-acre farm! Technically it’s actually located in Tumalo, but saying that “Bendistillery” is a distillery that is not in Bend seemed like a strange sentence.
Oregon seems to be turning into the “Kentucky of the West” thanks to distillers such as Oregon Spirit Distillers. These guys have been in pursuit of the perfect American whiskey with their rye options, bourbon, and wheat whiskeys as well. Stop in for some dark liquor here.
