Sitka has that small town feel but with an expansive outdoor scene to keep visitors active for days. Winters have cool weather and short days. Most of the tour operators close in September so there isn't much to do in the winter.
Late spring is a relatively dry season. May high temps are only in the low-50s.
Summer is easily the peak season for tourism. The weather is mild and the "dry" season runs through August. The days are really long and there is plenty of outdoor fun to enjoy.
Fall is the rainy season, and the area gets a lot of rain. October highs are only around 50 degrees.
