The third largest city in the state, Mesa is located in the Phoenix Metro Area. With a fairly diverse and energetic population, the city has a ton of activities, shops, and restaurants to explore. It is also a town for sports enthusiasts. Hosting training for a couple of MLB clubs, Mesa, come springtime, is definitely alive. And with a number of excellent golf courses, those looking for some spectacular Arizona golf have found the right place. Because of its location, Mesa is not solely about city life. There are 3 lakes within driving distance as well as amazing hiking trails, some desert terrain to explore and plenty of outdoor recreational activities in which to engage.
Mesa for many is a foodie haven. With agricultural areas surrounding the city, the concept of farm-to-table is very much alive and thriving in this eclectic city. Tourists can choose among literally hundreds of venues.
The city certainly prides itself on its artistic past and present. The all-encompassing Mesa Arts Center offers visitors myriad opportunities to experience the city’s creative side. The center features 5 art galleries, 14 studios as well as four theaters hosting everything from symphonies to plays.
If you love shopping for those vintage finds, Mesa is the place in which to do it. Certainly the city has plenty of retail stores and outlets, but it might be the Mesa Swap Meet that proves the biggest draw. With nearly 2000 vendors, on the weekends, this is definitely the place to be.
Like much of Arizona, the most enjoyable weather is about October through April. Winters typically see highs in the upper-70s with lots of sunshine.
The entire year is dry, but especially late spring. May has average daily highs in the mid-90s with almost no rain.
Summers are blazing hot. Temps regularly reach 105-110 degrees. For many, it is simply too hot to do much outside.
October remains in the upper-80s, but this feels quite nice after the scorching summers.
