Malibu is a coastal city about 30 miles west of Los Angeles on the Pacific Coast Highway. The city is known for having some of the most beautiful beaches in the world, along with multi-million-dollar homes that go right up to the beach (and sometimes the ocean). The city takes pride in the “21 miles of scenic beauty” as it stretches along 21 miles of coastline.
Again… 21 miles of coastline! Zuma Beach and Surfrider Beach are known for waves made for surfing. The Malibu Pier has some charming shops and great views. Point Dume is another popular beach that has been featured in some blockbuster movies. Paradise Cove is known for having stellar (expensive) restaurants and beach clubs.
The Malibu weather is remarkably consistent throughout the year. The average high temperature in January (the coldest month) is 64 degrees, and the average high in August (the warmest month) is 71 degrees.
While being close to LA, Malibu is also close to nature (AKA “grapes”, AKA “wineries”). One of the most beautiful venues in the country is Rocky Oaks Estate Vineyards. Malibu also has several tour operators that shuttle guests to wineries in the area. One of the coolest experiences is Malibu Wine Safaris, where you can drink wine while seeing exotic animals (giraffes, zebras, etc.).
Malibu has a Mediterranean climate. The weather is very consistent throughout the year. Winter is technically the cold (if highs in the mid-60s qualifies as cold) and wet season.
May through October is sunny virtually every day with no rain. Spring high temps slowly creep into the high 60s.
Summer is a popular season, especially for beach-going. The daily highs only reach the lower-70s.
Fall looks a lot like the other seasons. The "rainy" season begins to start in November, but Malibu only gets about a foot of precipitation for the entire year.
